Lobbyist Jack O'Meara at state capitol building

Jack O’Meara

As President of O’Meara Public Affairs, Jack O’Meara focuses his work on direct advocacy, strategy, message development, and alliance-building. He works directly with clients on a daily basis.

With more than 30 years experience in Wisconsin government and politics and experience working on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Jack has strong relationships with key people throughout state government, the Wisconsin congressional delegation, local governments, and fellow advocates. Jack has a keen understanding of the processes and players involved. He works effectively with people who have varying perspectives and from both sides of the political aisle.

Jack has particularly strong writing skills. He is very effective at preparing concise documents for policymakers. He has written and prepared many direct-mail pieces along with articles that have been placed in major newspapers and newsletters. He effectively advocates on behalf of clients through social media. Jack has received high marks as a speaker on advocacy and on various issues of concern to clients.

Prior to starting his firm, Jack served as a senior legislative and press assistant in both houses of the Wisconsin Legislature, and for Congressman Tom Barrett (longtime Milwaukee Mayor, now U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg) on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. He has organized and advised many political campaigns.

A Milwaukee native, Jack is a graduate of St. Robert Grade School, Shorewood High School, and UW-Madison, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science. In his free time, Jack gets out on the tennis courts as much as possible and plays some golf. Jack and his wife Bridget have three grown daughters and an active rescue dog Hoolie — named for an Irish dance party or it’s short for “Hooligan,” depending on the day!

“The depth of experience, political savvy, and strategic thinking that Jack brings to our efforts has been invaluable at every turn.”
